Brooksville Elementary School
Technology Teacher
Brooksville, Maine
David has been a lifelong technology enthusiast, and has had the wonderful privilege of teaching students technology skills since 1988. He has worked at the high school level at Maine Central Institute, Pittsfield, ME; K-6 at Dayton Consolidated School, Dayton, Maine; and Preschool-8 at Brooksville Elementary School, Brooksville, Maine. He is going into his 11th school year at Brooksville Elementary School, where he focuses on the iLife, iWork, Microsoft Office 2011 and Google Docs suites with the children and teaching staff. Days are filled with creating digital stories, various documents, keyboarding instruction, slideshows, Garageband, digital photos and movies and everything in between. He worked alongside of Nada Lepper with the WBES digital news project, assisting and helping where needed. David's goal as a technologist is to help each classroom be successful in integrating technology into every day tasks, through supporting the teachers, direct instruction and problem-solving--as well keeping everything up and running and in tip-top shape! The goal of the "Show Me the News" workshop is to inspire teachers to use simple technology projects to transform the classroom (and school) as well as to inspire teachers to find fun and relevant technology-related tasks to motivate children to exceed the standards.
